  • A bill on the right of employees of train stations and airports to use tasers has been submitted to the State Duma
Federation Council members Alexei Kondratiev, Mikhail Kozlov and State Duma deputy Anatoly Vyborny introduced a bill in the lower house of parliament allowing airport and train station security personnel to use self-defense weapons, in particular tasers. The document is published in the electronic database of the parliament.
"The draft federal law On Amendments to Article 123 of the Federal Law On Transport Security establishes norms allowing employees of transport security units to use civilian self—defense weapons, in particular electric shock devices (ESU)," the explanatory note says.
The authors of the project note that at the moment, the ESH can be used by guards of private security companies, employees of non-departmental security, bailiffs, employees of federal postal organizations, officials of specially authorized state bodies for the protection, supervision and regulation of the use of wildlife and their habitat, police officers, military personnel (employees) of the National Guard troops Of the Russian Federation and other persons.
"At the same time, the current legislation does not provide for the possibility of using ESH by transport security units," the document says.
